 Memoir

My path from nineteen-year-old college valedictorian to Ph.D. candidate to high school teacher to youth pastor was plagued with confusion, frustration, and bouts of depression. I still wish that I had all the answers, but for now, the best I can offer is my story. Too Small to Understand Why allows readers to walk a few steps in my shoes for the first ten years of marriage, where they can both experience the journey and also glean from what I have learned along the way. Topics covered: loss of purpose, financial stress, depression, infertility, introversion, tension in faith.

Small Group Curriculum

The first year of Through the Bible: A Small Group Curriculum covers books from nearly every genre of the Bible. Each book study contains either six or eight lessons, allowing group members to dig deeper into various passages and appreciate the content of the book, while also surveying the contents of its entirety. Each study also encourages members to read through the book several times during this span.

This Kindle e-book partners with the "Year One" volume of Through the Bible: A Small Group Curriculum. I provide answers to the content questions within the study guides of the curriculum. These are not "leader's guides," nor are they "the answers," as each leader and group should journey through the text on their own. In addition, the application questions from the curriculum can only be answered after deep study and by specific groups in their unique contexts. These booklets are simply an attempt to further discussion and to connect dots between my (i.e., one interpreter's) thought processes.

1 Samuel is a one-book example of how the Through the Bible: A Small Group Curriculum is written. It contains seven lessons, allowing group members to dig deeper into various passages and appreciate the content of the book, while also surveying the contents of its entirety. The study also encourages each member to read through the book two times during this span.
